TED (Glaser) Talk: How He Built Summit Lawns

Published on January 29, 2018

Dropping huge clients to align with his business' purpose is the kind of thing Ted Glaser does, even when it hurts.

Why You Should Drop the "Wrong" Clients

It doesn't matter how much money you make if you're miserable. And it doesn't matter how much revenue you're pulling in if there's no profit. Ted exercises great self-control in his business to straddle extremes. He's phasing out a significant subset of his clients (or subbing them out) in order to solve employment issues.

Rather than have his business run him, Ted took the reins of his business and pulled it back before it was overextended and ran into big problems.

You have to decide what your business exists to do. If that's a profit powerhouse, get after it and chase every possible money-maker. If you'd prefer to build a business that allows you a good living, takes care of your employees, and turns a decent profit, that's equally valid. Just like every business owner is unique, so are the businesses they build. Don't get caught up in someone else's dream.

Next Week on The Profit Roadmap:

John Caldwell, our valiant CTO, returns to the show to discuss the history of SA, finding the right partner in business-building, and how you can move from being a "doer" to a "leader." Subscribe to the show today so you don't miss out on any of that awesome information.

As always, leaving a review for us wherever you listen to podcasts is very helpful to the show. It helps us know how you like the show and helps other people find the show.
